ALUMNI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was presented at
West High on May 16, 2000, by the West High Class of 1979 in
memory of 14 classmates who are no longer with us.
The $500 award was donated in its entirety by our class at the 20 year reunion last summer. The recipient also received a certificate listing the names of our 14 friends. The winner of this scholarship was selected by a committee at West High. She graduates with a 3.85 GPA in the top 10 percent of the Class of 2000. She has been very active in numerous activities including National Honor Society, Trading Cards Program, SADD, and PSI Club (Postponing Sexual Involvement). The winner of this first ever Billings West High School Alumni Scholarship is Miss Brittany Swedelius. Brittany is a student with low vision and this scholarship will enable her to pursue her dream of helping others with similar handicaps. She will be attending MSU-Billings next fall to pursue a degree in Special Education. "I want to be
a blessing to other visually impaired individuals by helping
them learn how to live a normal life...and to enjoy the journey
along the way!" After meeting this young lady, I know she will indeed be a blessing and an inspiration to all of those individuals lucky enough to know her. Good Luck, Brittany!

It is our hope that this scholarship will continue each year and that donations will be received each year from each of the classes holding reunions in previous summers.
